thank you is not enough

Sometimes, a word of thank you is just not enough to express your gratitude and this is how I feel now.

I went home to find a white envelope in my letterbox yesterday with the familiar cursive handwriting on it, I knew its something from J. I quickly tore it open and found a ziploc bag containing something nicely wrapped in crimson tissue paper. I had no idea what it might be, there weren't any clues and I wasn't expecting this package but I knew it must be something precious since it is packed with so much care. My guess was right, this woman actually stitched up Fern for me, a design I've much wanted to own, in a pretty hand dyed fabric from SMF (am I right?? or EF?).

I'm really touched by her thoughtful gesture. You see, she is one of the best stitchers and her work is really intricate so you see how honoured I am. Not only that, she was busy with her recent relocation and yet she managed to steal time to do this for ME, I really cannot find the right words to express my emotions now.

Thank you J, I love her and love you too. You've made my day and I think I will be one lucky and happy 38yo this year.

I'm waiting for better light to capture a nice picture of Fern and when I've done with admiring her, I'm going to have her framed up nicely.

sorting out

I have been using the same old twain-around-the-skein method to store my loose threads but this seems impossible if I were to blend my colors. I have seen thread sorters in ebay but its crazy to pay so much for such a simple tool. Surely there must be something else I can use (and cheaper too).

Then I saw this plastic curtains (or whatever) with strawberries motifs that has got lots of holes in them. *Light bulb* Don't they just resemble the thread sorters I saw on ebay?? Never mind they are smaller in sizes and the holes are smaller by a few mm. As long as I can string my threads through, I'm happy. I have started using them on my TTAS project since it involves a couple of blendings.

Joyce and I fell in love with this pattern from Mirabilia, Touching the Autumn Sky. Something about the carefreeness of the little girl draws us to this design. Of coz, the most logical thing next will be to do a stitch-along (my first SAL with a pal half a globe away).

I'm stitching her on Sugar Maple Fabrics' Autumn Pond in 32ct Belfast. Mindy has done a great job for this fabric, the streaks of orange is located exactly where I hope it will be, shining down like rays of evening sun behind the girl.

This is one of the less complicated Nora Corbett designs and the size is not overly large. She is going to be lovely, I just hope I can squeeze in more time to work on her. As for Joyce, she is already half the way done, she is really fast and her stitches are scarily (yes) neat. Lol.

Finally, I can do a happydance for Karl's birth annoucement. It took me a whole 6 months to finish it, in between my own birth of H and my confinement. I did not select the design until I saw Karl, it was difficult finding a birth annoucement that is neither too sweet or too monotonous, then I saw this Dragonlets Birth Sampler from Dragon Dreams, its just perfect!!

I did the framing myself, doesnt look too bad eh?

By the way, Karl is my first nephew.

Ok, moving on to the big boy. After much coaxing, T finally agrees to have his hair cut by professionals. It is a relief for me cause I am the one cutting his hair since birth and I'm not very good at it. Sometimes, I managed a good one, sometimes, he ended up looking like a sprouting pineapple, can you imagine my horrors?

Here's the hairstylist uncle, explaining to him what he was going to do next and T got to watch his favourite Thomas video while going through the entire ordeal.

See how stressed T was. He never sit so still with me (that explains the pineapple hair).

Okay, the kinks at the top has finally been evened out. No more horns, yay! At S$18 per cut, I still find it a tad expensive, I better learn this trade fast.
